On December 19, 2006 Gláucio dos Reis Santana, who confessed to the crime, was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison.

Gláucio dos Reis Santana is serving his sentence under the semi-open system, which allows him out during daytime but he has to sleep at night in the prison.
