He left his home on the morning of July 20 and during the day took part in a number of meetings. That was the last time he was seen alive. His body was found two days later floating in a reservoir. He had wounds to the face.

On April 15, 2008 the IAPA received a letter from the Bahia State Attorney’s Office in which the public prosecutor asked the police precinct to send the required information on the matter, which indicates that the case has not been shelved.
In October 2007 it was learned that the case might be shelved, the Attorney General’s Office conducted new investigations but there have been no new leads.
In June 2002, following an IAPA investigation, the case was reopened.
In October 1995 the investigation was shelved. According to the autopsy death was due to “natural causes.”
