Freelance photographer, he was a stringer for three newspapers in Cartagena, Bolívar.

He also drove a taxi cab, from which he was kidnapped by three men on March 17. His body, with signs of torture and several gunshot wounds, was found the following day.
1997:
On December 18, 1997 a Cartagena district attorney charged Edgar Antonio Matos with manslaughter and he was later convicted and sentenced by a Cartagena court.
